Fire pump systems
When a hydrant or sprinkler system is activated, the fire pump must start and deliver its full duty. Aqua Energy Group designs, builds and commissions fire pump systems for mine sites and industrial facilities across Australia.
Enclosures for mines and industry
We supply diesel and electric fire pump sets built to AS 2941. Each is housed in a weatherproof enclosure or a complete modular fire pump station. Every system is fully automated, factory-assembled, and ready for on-site commissioning.
Diesel, electric or both
The right configuration depends on your power supply, the site’s risk profile, and your fire engineer’s requirements. Most of our mine site systems pair a diesel and an electric pumpset with a jacking pump.
Fire pump systems for mine sites
Mine sites need fire protection that works in dust, heat and remote locations, with little room for downtime. We have delivered fire pump systems for coal mines in the Hunter Valley and Central West NSW. We have also built them for remote mines in western NSW.
We can build our pumpsets to mine-compliant requirements, including MDG15 certification where the site requires it. From the Hunter Valley to the Bowen Basin, we build to your site’s standards and your operation’s timeframe.
From design to handover
We manage fire pump projects from concept to commissioning. That includes design, fabrication, factory testing, delivery, civil works, installation and commissioning. Our electrical and mechanical engineers work under one roof, so you deal with one team for the whole station. On the Cobar project, we managed everything from civil works to final commissioning and handover.
Fire pump sets built to AS 2941
AS 2941 is the Australian Standard for fixed fire protection pump set systems. It covers the pump sets that supply sprinkler, hydrant, water spray and hose reel systems. We design and assemble our fire protection pump sets to meet it.
- Hydrant and sprinkler
Diesel and electric fire booster pumps
We build diesel and electric fire booster pumps for hydrant and sprinkler services. Each pump set is fully automated. The control panel, valves, pipework and accessories sit on a common fabricated base. Fully galvanised steel construction protects the package in harsh conditions. Diesel pump sets include the exhaust, muffler and fuel components the engine needs. Electric pumpsets are matched to your site's supply and switchgear.
- Holding pressure
Jacking pumps and accessories
A jacking pump, also called a jockey pump, keeps the fire main at pressure. It covers small losses, so the main fire pumps start only when needed. We supply jacking pumps wherever a system needs one. We also supply hose reel pumps, vibration eliminators, valves, and exhaust components.
Fire pump enclosures and modular fire pump stations
A fire pump is only as reliable as the protection around it. We design the housing to suit the site, from a single weatherproof enclosure to a complete fire water station.
- Single, dual or container
Fire pump enclosures
Our fire pump enclosures shield pump sets from weather, dust, and tampering, and are secured with a standard lock. They are available for single or dual pump sets, or as container shelters for faster deployment. Custom enclosures are designed around your site, with exhaust, muffler and rain cap fitted for diesel units.
- Complete package
Modular fire pump stations
For larger sites, we deliver modular fire pump stations as a complete package. A station can include diesel and electric pump sets, jacking pumps and fire water storage tanks. It also includes controls, interconnecting pipework, and electrical works. Modular construction means we do most of the work in our workshop, reducing time and on-site disruption.

Frequently asked questions
What is AS 2941?
AS 2941 is the Australian Standard for fixed fire protection pump set systems. It sets minimum requirements for pump sets that supply sprinkler, hydrant, water spray and hose reel systems. It covers design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and testing. Routine servicing is covered separately by AS 1851.
Should I choose a diesel or electric fire pump?
Electric fire pumps suit sites with a reliable power supply. Diesel fire pumps run independently of mains power, which suits remote sites. Many mine sites install both, plus a jacking pump. Your fire engineer's design sets the requirement, and we build the system to match.
What does a jacking pump do?
A jacking pump, or jockey pump, is a small pump that keeps the fire main at pressure. It makes up minor losses from leaks or small draws. This prevents the main fire pumps from starting unnecessarily, reducing wear and false starts.
Do I need an enclosure for my fire pump?
An enclosure protects the pumpset from weather, dust, and tampering, helping it start reliably when called on. On open mine sites and remote locations, it is usually the practical choice. We build single, dual and container-style enclosures to suit each site.
What information do you need to quote a fire pump system?
Send us the required flow and pressure, usually from your fire engineer's design. Tell us the water supply, power available, site location and whether you need an enclosure or a complete station. Drawings or a hydraulic specification help us quote accurately.
